RAAF Darwin Civil Works Project 6

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Scope of works shall include, set out and survey of works including identification of all existing services, relocate existing service pits, valve boxes and infrastructure lids to design levels, traffic and pedestrian management, demolition, new drainage works, earthworks and subgrade preparation, new pavement works including new asphalt, concrete footpath in accordance, install grouted stone pitching, carpark line-marking and perimeter wheel stops.

Project Outcomes

  • To remediate the existing building 121 and 342 carparks, removal all traces of asbestos, improve facilities for all users.
  • To carry out drain remediation and install new drains within the agreed timing and within the budgetary constraints.
  • To achieve a ‘zero harm’ outcome through comprehensive and uncompromising management of risk particularly those risks relating to Work Health and Safety (Asbestos Removal).
  • To ensure no environmental incidence or impacts to the RAAF Darwin facilities.
  • Delivery of the contractual scope of works in a manner to have zero impact on the RAAF Darwin base operations.

Value Added

  • IPSA team provide additional concrete at own cost which had been excluded from the original design, but proved vital to com-plete the works and greatly reduce soil erosion and subsequent blocking of new drains.
  • Asbestos removal was conducted without delay to the project and detailed methodology of removal and IPSA management ensured no delays and no exposure to Defence and construction personnel.
