RAAF DARWIN MHS FENCE LINE WORKS, NT

CLIENT: Department of Defence

Projects RAAF Fence 1

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Scope of Work

This project provides Class 2 airside fencing, vehicle access gates and pedestrian access gates around the Military Hand Stand (MHS) area. Where required, trees will be removed to facilitate the installation of the fence and comply with Class 2 fencing security requirements.

Project Outcomes

  • IPSA team provided an end product of exceptional quality within time and budgetary constraints, further to this during the works IPSA ensured no operational issues for the Defence personnel within the work zones.

Value Added

  • IPSA team potholed every fence post to ensure no damage to any services, these works stretched the programme by 2 weeks but the end resulted in no damage to any services including secret network cables was a testament to the team, no cost to Defence.
  • The specified sliding access gate was not a practical solution as the proposed driveway way significantly sloped this would have resulted in a gate trace with 2 high points. IPSA proposed a can-tilever gate which resolved any track issue, a great solution for the Defence ops team and no additional cost.
  • IPSA encountered rock but was able to remove without delays or additional cost to Defence.
  • IPSA (at its own cost) repaired sections of bitumen along the fence line to improve aesthetics of the fence line, extending the life of the bitumen area.
