PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project is to focus on the rectification works of a section of the service roads within RAAF Base Darwin Airport that services the airport runways, taxiways and other airport infrastructure facilities. Significant pavement deterioration is apparent along the entire length of road section. Observed pavement failures include deformations, extensive cracking, loss of surface texture, potholing, edge breaks and drop offs.

Project Outcomes

  • To undertake and inspect, rectify to improve the operations and safety of the road to help maintain the assets to meet defence capability requirements.
  • To carry out resurfacing and associated repair works to the existing perimeter access road within the agreed timing and within the budgetary constraints.
  • • To achieve a ‘zero harm’ outcome through comprehensive and uncompromising management of risk; particularly those risks relating to Work Health and Safety.
  • Delivery of the contractual scope of works in a manner to have zero impact on Darwin International Airport and RAAF Darwin base operations.

Value Added

  • IPSA provide a long-term solution to the water infiltration, greatly extending the life span of the remediated road and providing additional value for the Department of Defence.
  • IPSA rectified all low points within the road, this was provided additional to the original scope of works and at no cost the Department of Defence further increasing the life expectancy of the existing road.
